'American Idol' Finalists: Carmen Rasmusen, Rickey Smith, Kiberly Caldwell & *TRENYCE*, Grateful For Program
May 21st, 2003

LAUNCH asked American Idol finalists Carmen Rasmusen, Rickey Smith, Kimberly Caldwell, and Trenyce their thoughts on the whole "Idol" experience.

Bountiful, Utah native Rasmusen was voted off the show on April 23. She said being part of American Idol is something she will never forget. "Well, I was always happy when I kept on making it," Rasmusen said. "You know you always have in the back of your mind, What if I was the next 'American Idol'? But I couldn't have asked for more. This has opened so many doors for me. I mean what a great way to start out my future career being on a show like this that I'm on national television every Tuesday and Wednesday. I really couldn't have asked for more.

Keene, Texas resident Smith seems as though he's keeping a pretty level head about his new-found fame. Smith said that right now he's just waiting to see who the new "American Idol" will be along with the rest of the country. "Right now, because I have to wait 'til the show ends, and we find out who the 'American Idol' is," Smith said. "But, you know, I'm just gonna sit and wait and hopefully I'll get some offers, but until then I'm probably just going to go back to school--finish school and everything."

Meanwhile, Katy, Texas singer Caldwell, who climbed to the top seven before being voted off April 16, said she "didn't have a clue" she would make it that far. "It started at 70,000 people," Caldwell said. "I was sleeping on the streets on a dirty futon just hoping that I'd get past the first round, and I made it to the top seven. So, I couldn't ask for more...definitely."

Memphis, Tennessee resident *TRENYCE* said that despite being voted off American Idol on April 30, she still respects the opinion of infamous judge Simon Cowell. "I can respect him for being completely honest as far as, you know, his opinions and things," Trenyce said. "And he tells you exactly what I think the music industry is going to tell you--you know what I mean? He just kind of prepares you for the negative comments and criticisms that goes with being in the spotlight. And so I can't do anything but respect him for it. Because there are some people who don't have the guts to tell you what they really think."

*TRENYCE*, and the nine other finalists from this season will head out on the American Idols Live Tour starting July 8 in St. Paul, Minnesota. The tour will visit nearly 40 cities before wrapping up August 31 in Anaheim, California.
